Can you disprove "fate"? I don't believe you can disprove that when things happen, they were preordained to have happened. Someone said to me, "When your time's up, there's nothing you can do about it", referring to the destruction of the Twin Towers and all those who died. I took offense at that because I don't believe that those people were preordained to die that day ("fate" must imply a sense of "preordination"); i.e., I don't believe they were fated to die. Now, after the fact, someone who believes in "fate" would say, "See, they were fated to die, just as some were fated to live, like those who were sick and couldn't make it in to work that morning", but, again, I don't believe that it was "fate" at all. I believe it was luck. If you believe "luck" and "fate" are the same thing, then, considering the semantics, I might agree; but I don't believe that "fate" and "luck" are the same. I believe they're two different concepts.
