International Recognition Day

Happy Australia day everyone
lets all take a moment and think about the many contributions that Australia has made to our culture.
Such as:
crocodile dundee
crocodile dundee 2
crocodile dundee 3
paul hogan
hats with corks around the brim
kangaroos
koala bears
dingos that eat babies
fosters
the ever impressive didgery doo (spelling?)
bogwagers
boomerangs
the great rabbit crisis
that energizer guy
the crocodile hunter

thats all i can think of if you got more please post!!!!

Any suggestions what culture could be officially recognized tomorow?????

Re: International Recognition Day

It's a little known fact that the aussies are responsible for most crises throughout the world.

Also gave us Mel Gibson, Crotchrot, Victoria Bitter, Aboriginees, an appreciation for cool accents.

And I believe it's spelled "Dijeridoo"

Nicole Kidman
Peter Carey
Cate Blanchett
Priscilla: Queen of the Desert
Muriel's Wedding
Cosi
Toni Collette

And yes, you're right, Australia had a rabbit problem as well. I just remember the trippy 60's style documentary on its counterpart in New Zealand.

international recognition day

thanks for all the replies folks!!!!

I think today we should recognize a country that should have been recognized yesterday so i would like to wish everyone a happy England day!!! (it should have been yesterdays country cause of the queen mothers funeral and i feel a little guilty because i forgot)

England has done some very notable things like:
making canada a part of the commonwealth
fighting the nazis during world war 2
being cold and rainy all the time (somebodys got to do it and I'd rather it be them than me)
colonizing australia (see yesterday)
the BBC
two words, James Bond
hosting tennis games (I'm not a fan but I'm sure someone out there is)
monarchy
fucking with the scottish which was the inspiration for spectacular films like Braveheart and to a lesser extent that one that Liam Neesan was in
the sex pistols

thats all i can think of for now but I'm sure they have done more than that....so yet again please post any more things they have done and PLEASE give me some inspiration for tommorows recognition so far the only one ive heard is Uruguay from Super Gremlin and i dont know anything about them......

I'm not through with OZ, yet.

The Divinyls -- IMHO, it's hard to find a better song than "Boys In Town". Anyway, I'll spam 'em with no apologies.

The Little River Band -- I saw 'em in concert a coupla years ago. They've been around a long time and, over the years, have built a great catalogue of music.

Oh, there's many, many more, but I wanted to see them mentioned, so I did.

Amen.

p.s. Not that it matters, but OZ didn't give the world Mel Gibson. He was born in Peekskill, NY, USA on 3 January 1956. Having said that, I do, however, think of him as an Aussie. I think a lot of people do.

international recognition day

im tired today so i guess todays country can be uruguay YAY uruguay unfortunately i know nothing about uruguay (except that i like the name its pretty funny) and im way to lazy right now to do a search and find stuff out so im gonna make up some facts like:
George Clooney owns half of uruguay!
there has NEVER been a reported case of athletes foot in uruguay
everything smells nicer there
in uruguay rats are as big as cats and cats are as big as rats
this guy who lived in uruguay once ate 17 pounds of otter meat at one sitting!
Ripleys Believe It Or Not is actually filmed in uruguay
Uruguavians dont like being called Uruguavians but prefer Uruguavanites

thats all for now ill have something better tomorow please help me think of another country cause if not tomorow will be Props To Canada day.....
