anyone seen Baise-moi?

Australia being a little slow in releasing films at times, this one has just opened in a few arthouse cinemas here. The only reason I even heard of it is that it's about to have it's rating changed from R to X, (that's same as going from X to XXX in the USofA) which would effectively make it banned from cinemas. Thank the Devil for the Rev. Fred Nile and his Conservative Moral Minority, or I'd never have thought twice about seeing this.
A quick check on IMDB comes up with some interesting things, its about a hooker and a porn star and their fight againts male oppression via going on a nonsensical spree of violence, death and sex. Thelma and Louise meets Natural Born Killers, only it's sub par to be called B grade. What gets me thoough, is it's written and directed by a porn star, aged 23 ot the time, one who'd acted in 7 porno flicks before her 19th birthday.
I'll go and see it as soon as I find someone who wont be embarrassed to walk in the cinema with me, probably tomorrow. Anyone seen it already and want to comment on it?

What gets you about this bit? ... That would seem like the perfect candidate to be able to speak about male oppression to me. If there's anyone who's going to be versed in speaking about it someone with that profile and experience would perhaps be in a fairly informed position ... but i dont know .. I havent seen the movie and I have no idea whether it's been done fairly or with any amount of objectivity ... my guess is, probably not.

It gets a british release in about 2 weeks time, and I'll go see it here - hopefully theyll get it in its first week of release ...

Reviews have been mixed depending on the magazine/reviewer ... some calling it Thelma and louise gone wrong ... others saying it's promoting male-hate ...

Not sure about the quote you made from IMDB though ... about females fighting male oppression ... from what I read of the synopsis at Sight and Sound, one of the only places I place any trust in .. there seemed to be lots of fighting/killing men ... but not much evidence of male oppression. The reviewer liked it overall though

I believe the director/writer herself was raped in her youth and the film's main theme is the revenge taken by the two women inspired by their rape in the film.

10 seconds have been cut in the UK release, primarily involving depictions of actual penetration.
