Electrical Engineering (also known as jerry rigging or nigger wiring)
Eh, not really worthy of a post but when has that stopped me.
Anyway, I'm all moved in with my sister now. I have no furniture, however, so I'm living like a goddamned Bohemian (you should see my computer setup, it's a bunch of milk crates and a sleeping bag to sit on). Online access is better than I thought it would be because I live a block away from a computer center that I come to find is open all summer, 24/7, and will probably be hooking my machine up tonight maybe.
Anyway, this morning the power went out for 3/4s of the apartment. I live in a very old building, and our neighbors just moved out, hence we lost our power. Why did we lose our power just because the neighbors moved?
Well, Kate has always bragged about how low her bills are, never really in excess of 20 dollars a month. That's because, I come to learn, the only electricity she is recieving goes to the kitchen and the bathroom and that's it. All the other rooms are being juiced by the poor saps that live next door, at their expense. Some sort of wiring oversight or somesuch.
Well, the neighbors moved out today and of course their power was shut off because of it. Which means our power was shut off because of it.
However, a brief meeting in the apartment led to the decision that we will simply not complain to anybody about this, and on June 1st when we hope new people will be moving in, we'll get our power back and our bills will be low once more (and the new people will be wondering why they use so much damn electricity).
In the meantime however, Handy Dan has been on a bit of a wiring rampage. Now the apartment is covered in extension cords and wires and electrical crap as Dan attempts to run everything in the apartment from the two outlets in the kitchen. I'm somewhat frightened by this, but hey the smoke detector is right over my door. But you should see the place. It looks like Superman III in there. Add to this that we have basically no furniture but tons of junk (we are, in fact, making furniture out of junk), and it's a pretty wierd sight.
Anyway, that's my story.
In other news, Dan has decided that he no longer wants the iguana because pets that aren't carnivorous aren't worth the upkeep, so he is going feed it to the wolf when he moves.
Squish (the wolf) will be quite pleased I'm sure.
