One of my good friends has been lying to her boyfriend for almost a year now about varoius things ranging from super important, to inconsequential. Sonia (the friend) is moving to portugal in a little over a month and her boyfriend was planning on moving with her. (stupid move for 17 year olds to make if you ask me). Until he found out about some of the things shes been lying about. He confronted her about a great deal of these lies, and she denied each and every one.
Their relationship is pretty rocky at the moment, needless to say.

Although her relationship in particular isn't what this thread is about. My question to you, is, is it ever ok to lie to a partner? And if so, what is it ok to lie about? If you lie about one thing, what is to stop you from having that lie compound on you?

Thats just what i mean flocat. If you are in a relationship with a woman who is going to be pissed off with you because you are honest, maybe you shouldn't be in a relationship with her? If i asked my SO if i looked fat in something, sure, if he said "hell yeah you look fat." I would be offended.
There are ways of being honest without being nasty/brutal. If i got the response, "I don't really like those pants on you, what about those other ones etc." I wouldn't be pissed in the slightest. Although few guys take the time to give a shit.

If indeed you are just in it for ass, then lie away.

If I looked like shit, he'd tell me. Instead of getting offended I would do something about it (kick his ass.)

I can't think of any instances in which we have ever lied to each other. We're really truthful with each other, about (almost) everything. At times I may get upset about something and when asked if I'm OK, I'd bullshit and say, "yes," just to get away from talking about it.

But like Kayla said, "if you're in it for the ass, then lie away."

My relationship would probably crumble and never pick up if I were to lose my trust with that person.

Well i wouldn't ask the question in the first place. at least not that one. heh. I know when i look fat in something and i dont need to ask my SO and put them in an awkward double edge sword situation.

Getting caught is way worse than being rude.

My wife just stopped asking if something made her look bad unless she really wants help picking out something to wear.

If you tell the truth all the time, people get used to it. The same goes for peope whom do.

I would say that if you lie (or omit truthes) about who you are, what you like, and what you do, the relationship is truly doomed to fail. If he finds out about the shit you lie about, he will have problems trusting you, and rightly so!

It kills me when I see that shit happen, chick lies to dude about.. oh let's say her past. & then he finds out the truth, or part of the truth and know she's lying... and then she's all suprised that he doesn't trust her! FUCKING DUH!!!

I have always been an advocate for blunt honesty about who I am or how I feel. If I wanna know something, I'll fucking ask in a very direct maner. & I expect people to be honest in their reply too. There is no right or wrong answer, unless the fucker lies then I'LL STAB THEM IN THE EYE!.

i've never lied to Caff, i don't feel that i need to. I don't know why i used to feel like i did (with ex's).
