My webcam had to come down due to lack of driver support from the manufacturer. That's pretty big news and I'm sure that our hits will drop off because of it, but we'll have to find a way to carry on (my wayward son).

The mods could always just kick the nicks of people who are parked. It doesn't have to be something mean, but rather just a change in policy. I'm fine with however you guys want to do that sort of thing, but I share the gripe. It's common over in rakefight to do away with nicks that are parked. Mods could post the chatlogs somewhere for those folks who just have to know what's going on when they're not around, and then the people who show up in chat could actually chat with the other folks in chat. It is called "chat", after all, not "park" or "sleep" or "lurk". I don't go into #wota unless I want to chat. And then when I'm done I leave. It takes all of ten seconds to pull up IRC and get into the channel, so it's not a matter of convenience. This is not a major issue in my life, but it can be annoying to pop into the channel and see a long list of names only to realize that there's only three people actually present.

Just a thought.

i stay in there a lot of the time when i'm not really IN chat. mostly just logging. a lot of interesting convos go on while im not around that i enjoy reading at other times. Sometimes im at my computer,just not chatting because i have nothing to add to the conversation.

I don't think that kicking people who are idle is a good idea. just my opinion.

You know, sometimes I go into chat, and quite simply whatever conversations going on don't interest me. I just sit there and ignore them till something better comes up. Kicking for idling is not a very good idea, IMO.

But otherwise... I don't make it into chat often these days, but that's just because I'm stuck on a dialup and I don't spend all that much time online anymore.

I didn't say kick people who are idling. I said kick people who are parked. There's a difference. Lord, I don't expect everyone to be as chatty as I am when I'm there (though someone blabbing doesn't keep others from talking. It's not like it all doesn't get put on the screen), and my post was not even a suggestion. It is just how it is handled in other places, and nobody seems to notice or mind when the folks remaining are there either chatting or at least present. And part of what I mentioned was the mods posting the logs, perhaps just on a daily basis and then takin em down, for all the folks who don't wanna miss a single grippin moment of the whirlwind of banter and repartee.

Anyway, it don't make two shits to me either way. I don't spend enough time in chat to make it important to me.
