I was browsing the archives, and I noticed that everytime the subject came up, everyone got incredibly defensive

Why?
What oppression can white people really go through? We think we're so hard done by that we look for our own form of oppression, and we find it with terms like "reversed-racism" or "White is a color too", just like how straight people use the term "heterophobia".

look around stores, media, whatever, and notice how minorities basically don't exist and when they do, it's so OBVIOUS that they are trying to have the obligatory minority for the sake of PC it's painful.

Most of us are blind. I doubt any of us notice that we can get bandaids that sort-of match your skin tone, while minorities cant, that for a colored female, all of the skin colored stockings are many shades different to their actual skin color. We dont notice that when we go on vacation and buy a picturesque postcard, there are most likely white people on it. I doubt we notice when we get preferential treatment by customer service people.

White privilege.

White people, whether overtly racist or not, benefit from living in a world mostly run by white people that has been built on the land and the backs of non-white people.

I dont know what it would be like being a minority and dealing with the white privilege built over hundreds of years that pervades our society. The only real disadvantage that our skin color causes is that it so often prevents people from understanding racial issues.

I'm not saying that we should feel either guilty or proud about being white, its a state of being we have no control over. However, as members of a society (a privileged member of society), we should at least study and understand your privilege, and work toward a more just world in which such unearned privilege is eliminated, instead of screaming terms like REVERSE RACISM any time a racial issue comes up.

I think it goes both ways. The problem a lot of people seem to be having is that the point isn't to make your race BETTER or WORSE than other ones, it's to make them all EQUAL.

I'm am oppressed.

I'm being choked out of my university by foriegners from an education system I cannot compete with. These people are not American citizens. Those who are, were not born here, but moved here so that they could cake-walk through our college system. English was not their first language. So many more american born citicizens could benefit from their state's university if the Wong brothers weren't sucking up all the slots.

There's no way in Hell their countries would tolerate Americans doing that to their system.

Free college? What the fuck am I doing paying back all these loans I took out then? I should let the white man know that I am entitled free college and therefore, my debt should be erased.
