Angry The gift from Kenya

A tribe (The Masai) in Kenya heard about what happened on sept 11 and as a gesture of solidarity gave us (the American people) 14 cows - a sacred act and we refused to take them because of health laws. That REALLY REALLY fucking bothers me. These are not rich people and their gesture surely generous in its entirety and someone tells them no, you cant ship your dirty animals to our sterile country? Couldn’t we have checked them out and gave them shots rather than look like wholly arrogant fucks? Man, its deeply tragic to me.

EDIT: The above was posted in haste because I suck.

Guess that is exactly how fundamentalists view the States.

Hmm... the version I read, in the San Jose Mercury News, was drastically different. Just goes to show what effect word-of-mouth can have.

In the version I read, the gift was graciously accepted in a ceremony attended by a US dignitary, after a Masai who was attending college at Stanford went home and explained what had happened to his people.

Because of the logistics involved, the dignitary and the Masai agreed that the cattle would be sold in the local market, and the proceeds derived therefrom would be spent entirely on Masai tribal jewelry, to be shipped back to the White House.

A lot less sinister, no?

You know, though, I happen to agree with you overall. I'm a bit of a formalist that way, I suppose. Were I Bush, I'd make room on the ranch for a herd of Masai cows. While the Masai are, on the whole, strategically insignificant, ties would be stronger with a living herd of cattle on US soil rather than decorative tribal jewelry in a box in the basement that only gets wheeled out on to requisite occasions.

Foot and Mouth.
I say no more on the topic.
With a rigorous inspection cow's will be allowed through.
Before that point, history has proven that lax adherence to regulation on the import of any organisms results in detrimental effects.

Moose rack, right? I'd give you a flame point but that would leave you with zero. Like me. And I only have one point to give at the moment. I wasted my points awarding some lame-ass canuck humor points.

I read "RACK of the Saleman" the other day. Enthralling read. I laughed, I made a ham sandwich, I belched.
It was that good.
