We're burning, the whole fuckin place is going up in flames. I was in Denver this last sunday, when the big smoke could blew through. It looked overcast from shelter inside, outside, it was 95 degrees, stunk of charred wood and flakes of ash fell from the sky, eerily like snow. No camping this summer I guess.

No, some dumb bastard went camping and had a nice campfire despite the state wide fire ban. They then went home, and failed to fully extinguish it. I hope thier home burns.

Funny now that I think about it, driving into Denver, with smell of burning in my nostrils, my shirt stuck to my back with sweat, feeling like I was entering some kind of hell, I didn't connect it till now with the fact that I was about to see my ex-wife for the first time in about two years.

yeah, our beautiful mountains are blazing at the moment. No camping for us this year. Some of the unburned camp grounds are closed. I suppose we could still go up to the more north ones, but without the camp fire it's kinda pointless. Even smoking cigaretts has been banned from national forests.

Just an update. I heard on the radio this morning that firefighters think it'll take another 80-90 days just to containe the big Hamon fire. It's over 15 miles wide, and I think they said 20-25 miles long. 21 homes already known to be lost. That is all.

samething happening here...or was...75,000 hectares[sp] luckily northern alberta is very populated. There are pictures on that site of it, must keep in mind Alberta is much bigger then Colorado.

the one in Glenwood Springs is a underground coal seam that has bene on fire since the early 1900's..so almost 100 years...it just so happened to bust through at this shitty time in the states drought...there are like 8 or so going at once so god knows which one will do what...

oh yah the one near Glenwood springs..they have unground natural gas and oil wells there...guess what happens if those go up...

KA-FUCKEN-BOOM!

*edit* - i wonder if thats why glenwood springs has so much hot water\geo thermal activity because of that underground coal fire...well that makes sense now.

The glenwood one is relatively small though, only a few thousand acres. The big is up to about a 100.000 acres now.

yes sir..just possibly..im ok tho i got 100% fire insurance..as long as the people in my house, the PC, and dogs, and car (when i get it back) dont burn..the rest can go up in flames if it has to...
