Jade?

No doubt this will mean fuck all to most of you. But Big Brother is on again in the UK. Now normally I avoid this programme for the first few weeks in a typically snobby manner complaining about the 'dumbing down' of TV or moaning about there being to much 'reality television'. Eventually though fate will determine that I will see at least one episode and from that point I become hooked. This year it happened again when it was the only thing mildly entertaining on in a half a hour window between shows on a Friday night whilst getting drunk.

One of the housemate is called Jade and she comes out with some unbelievable statements that will no doubt fill the merchandised book that will accompany the series.

Heres some of them:

"I have learned a lot in the Big Brother House - I know chickens don't eat cheese."

"Mother Teresa and Doctor Heinstein - I thought they were related because people always mention them at the same time."

"In the olden days they had wirelophones and they got music out of that."

"I thought chewing gum was made from pigs."

"Rio de Janeiro, 'aint that a person?"

"I'm not going to be an escape goat for anyone"

"Scottish and Irish come under England, don't they?"

"Cleopatra? 'Ain't that someone who's dead? No, that's Mona Lisa I was thinking about?"

"East Anglia - that's abroad - near Tunisia."

"I thought Inspector Morse and Sherlock Holmes where real people."

"Sherlock Holmes invented the toilet."

"I know that Mother Teresa was a nurse."

"The Union Jack is for all of us - the St George is just for London."

"I didn't realise Aberdeen was in Scotland."

"People from Newcastle - they're called Liverpudlians, aren't they?"

"Do they use a different currency in the North?"

"Do you think I'm thick"

apparently with the US version, people were trying to get messages to the people in the house. CBS said that with version 3 (i can't believe they are making a third since they kinda bribed people to leave to make 2 "interesting") if anyone is caught looking at planes with banners, or picking up anything thrown over the fence, they would fine them - and kick them out.

i don't understand why they'd waste the time making the show, forget about coming up with punishments for the people who are obviously suffering enough as it is.

Worse is U8TV: The Lofters. It's a bunch of people who live in a loft in downtown Toronto. I don't know if they get anything out of the deal, other than a free place to live, but the show stinks. I think I watched about three episodes until curiosity killed the cat. I found the people on it to be ridiculously immature, which added to arguments, which made the show more interesting (?) overall. Example:

"Quit making noise. I'm trying to sleep."
The next morning the same person shows up with a blowhorn, or whatever you call them, yelling things at the door of the sleeping person's room.

Why?!?

I don't get how it's still running.
