Well, near if not through... I can't remember each and every highway, but I know there was some 75 going on, 288, 90 I think, 3_, Tons of different routes. I kept thinking (how geeky am I?) about how many people I could have met had I been given the oppertunity to spend a day or so in each state. I definitely should have met the Texans, but alas, did not. My family is skeptical about the net, you see. Basically we took two different routes. The faster one was on the way down. Driving through New Orleans took up a lot of extra time (no diagonal... just east and north that way). On the way home, I stopped in N.O. for a hurricane, to smell the piss n' vomit, and to have our car bumper scratched... then off to Tn to stop in Ruby Falls. It was a waste of money, but I think I would like to actually learn to go caving for real (although after seeing some of those entrances, I'm not so sure I'd fit). I also made it down to Monterrey, Mexico The girl was retardedly in love, but by the time we left she was hanging up on him (who knows how long that'll last). She has no respect for her mother though, which is sort of sad.
Drove all the way baby. Getting there only took about 34 hours including all stops, etc. The way back took about 40, but included even more stops. Living in a car is rough. I don't think I'd be able to live in the French Quarter, but since baton rouge isn't far, maybe I'll take up residence with slight, logan, catfat, GLN, et al. I'm not even sure I went directly past your city, but I was close enough that I'd only be an hour away, thus could have met you if I had more time.
One day I should do the same journey over a two week period and stop in each respective city to chill with everyone and see whatever worthy sights there are.
Just a hint: Don't bother going to Loredo(to?) or Monterrey to buy pottery. We found a cheaper place off the highway in Tx. I got a huge rod iron sculpture while there for $26 USD. It would be over 100 around here... and I'm certain that place was far cheaper than any other one we went to (incl. the "real" market in Monterrey).
I got to go to Waffle House and IHOP to see what everyone fusses/bitches about. I still like cracker barrel more. I have been eaten by fire ants as well, and still have a few bite marks to prove it (they are NASTY). I don't know how the kids from LA can deal with the freakin' mosquitoes. I was glad to get home to brick houses, and lots of greenery. There's no place like home
