tack,
If I had any "lifeless teenagers with bad hair" buttons left over, you'd have one. I promise.

they should so make a movie using this kind of CG. there is so much life left in the Transformers franchise , im amazed that no one has taken advantage of it.

I figured it was CG, or something like that, but I had my money more on some sort of wicked cool puppet minature thing.

that entire sequence was done as a test shot for a short film that guy and his buddy were considering. now that the clip has become so popular over the last month (you people really hadnt seen it yet? dayum.) theyre thinking of finishing the project.
as a sidenote, the franchise you spoke of is wrapped up in the TF:Armada series right now. check out the series on cartoon network and be sure to pick up the crappy ass toys at your local walmart.

I remember Fox aired the new Transformer series for a while, and now CN has picked up Armada (which looks pretty damn good).
Add on top of that the new "He-Man" series and what you've got is a nostalgia trip.

nostlagia is a powerful thing, just look at the starwars saga. most of that is nostalgia, and the hope that the newer films wil live up to the standards of the older films.

Which has so far not happened, sadly.
