2222
that time capsule thread was cool.
so, what do you think life will be like in 2222?
if you were going to write a letter for a time capsule, what would you want to tell the people then about now?

as for what life will be like in 2222, i think it'll be, in many respects, a lot like now. there will still be the occasional war, there will still be corrupt and/or idiotic politicians. people will still get murdered, raped, kidnapped, assaulted, what-have-you. there will be police who took the job for the powertrip, and others who took it for the chance to help people, but stayed for the powertrip. there will be accidental deaths on a daily basis in every large city on earth. some people will be poor, others rich. computers will be faster, but windows will still fuck up on you once in a while. the police will have non-lethal weapons with which to apprehend criminals, but will still prefer the lethal one strapped to their hip. terrorists will still strike from time to time, and many of them will come from the middle east. moviemakers will still spend huge amounts of money in order to make car crashes look more spectacular than they ever really are. germany will likely still be in the habit of trying to conquer the world at least once per century. europeans will still all hate each other, and the hatred for the french will be just as justifiable as today. most parents still won't be able to program the vcr. some people will still play ad&d on paper, and they'll still be called nerds (or something similar). no one will be happy with the fuel mileage their car gets. public transit will still suck. most people will have the occasional moment when they'd love to kill their boss. governments will still want total control over people's lives. people will talk shit about the government without doing anything about it. taxes will be higher than anyone is happy with. people will still have pets, and there will still be other people who like to joke about eating cats and dogs. there will be childhood illnesses that kill without warning. there will be adult illnesses that kill without warning. there will be people who neglect their doctor's appointments and find out about their cancer just a little too late. computer games will be fucking incredible, and christian idiots will blame them for 'violent youth-culture'. most of all, people will still have to breathe fairly often.

I believe that in 200 more year the Earth will be trashed.. but due to the fact that we seem to be advancing more and more rapidly.. I'm sure we will have found a way to minipulate life and work around that.

dear future people:
how are you? i am fine. my name is clayton, and i live in the year 2002. i would imagine that in your advanced year i am dead, which means the future is an unbearable hell. unless of course i am still alive, in which case you could contact me telepathically or however you do things and i can tell you all about the fantacular world of the past. or, you could read a damn book. if i am indeed dead, read on.
i predict great advances in the dog-breeding industry. in my time we have such things as the polka-dotted dog and the weiner-dog, miracles of incest to say the least. with the time and technology available to you between our eras, i'm sure you've been able to pervert nature in unimaginable ways.
we have yet to master the arts of artificial flavouring either, another field i pray for your success in.
in the past our vehicles all have wheels. very few of them still have feet. the wheel/feet ratio is probably less in your time, unless some sort of centipede-thing (breed of dog, perhaps?) has become a profitable alternative to rolling. our food is almost 80% actual food product, and a meagre 5% people. we're all fat. in light of all these facts, please develop a bacon-flavoured vegetable and mail the bountiful proceeds back in time to yours truly.
what about mutants? we have very few. the few we DO have are non-functional flipperbabies (not the seal-like water-breathing flipperbabies you're used to, that's a euphemism for "fucked up hands"). to my knowledge, nobody can launch any sort of destructive energy from their eyes. one more idea for the road: clone ghandi. give him the aforementioned eyebeams. he will save your world. pacifism is all well and good, but pacifism backed up with head-crushing laser potential is un-fucking-beatable.
hope you're having fun in the future and the air is not poisonous.
love,
buddha's penis

This is what caused me to dig up that thread two years later and find some of the letters and post them.
