The SI unit is the Joule, but a calorie is the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 gramme of water by 1 degree centigrade (grammes and centigrade both metric, so it is derived metric unit). Additionally, what people often call 1 'calorie' when talking about energy in food, is in fact a kilocalorie, ie, 1000 calories. (the 'kilo' prefix is also indicative of metric).
There are other metric units that aren't SI units, like the centimetre (pretty sure that isn't SI).
