directory listing

when online how do I get a directory listing for example...

one site I want to go to has pics and I don't want to wait for the thumbs I'd just rather see a list of all .jpg's in the directory.

is there anyway I can do this without admin rights or breaking the law for that matter?

I know nothing about this, which will probably show:

I think it depends whether the owner of the site has chosen to make an html/web page for that directory, rather than a collection of files.

So I don't think so, unless there is no page for the directory.

The directories show up when there has no "index.html, index.htm, index.php" or whatever been made, that is the default start page for the browser.

I remember that a older version of GoZilla would allow you to do this through FTP. Don't know about now though because I haven't used it in almost a year. Probably a easier way to do it but I don't know how.

If the site is located on MS IIS 4.0/5.0 server, then there is a setting to allow access to directory browsing, this is an administrative option and no browser is going to allow access to the directory view unless the site admin makes it available.

Not sure what the options are on non-MS servers.

Pretty much the same. Apache will by default enable directory listings however you can explicitly deny it either though .htaccess files(if your site supports them) or by changes the configuration file(Global or directory specific). Zeus is the same.
