Thumbs up Daily Movie Review - Searching for Bobby Fischer

Searching for Bobby Fischer (1993)

A boy and his parents must decide what to do about his newly discovered aptitude for world-class chess. Joe Montegna, Max Pomeranc, Joan Allen, Lawrence Fishburne

A great movie for those of us who enjoy the mental challenge of chess. The feeling of knowing you've won 5 moves before you call "Checkmate" is shown legitimately in this movie. Young Josh does a good job as the boy who does everyone proud by doing the right thing. Who is Bobby Fischer? You'll have to watch the movie. Does Josh win the big tourney at the end and become champion?

Of course he does.

My rating, with 5 Smilies being best is:

Pangloss' Review of the review]
----------------------------------------

A man watches lame movies and writes a crap review that serves little or no purpose.

My rating, with 1 finger being the worst is:

CAL--'bout time you watched a decent movie! Joe Mantegna's especially good in this film. Your review is a bit--shallow? Care to fill in a few more details?

Jera's Review of Pangloss
------------------
Salty, yet sweet. Harsh, yet enjoyable.
Pangy gives a new meaning to the words "fighting irish", always in mid-flame and always set and ready with arguments to back himself up with. Debates with Pangloss involved are always both intellectually stimulating and sadisticly satisfying.
This is, of course unless you are the object of his displeasure, at which point (and you get to decide whether or not to take it personally) he is a cock.

All in all, I give Pangloss, five being best:

Five winkies... because I'm afraid of him.

This really was a cool story, all the more because it's true.
