Song of Solomon

I really need to pay more attention... I just realized we have the Asylum Book Club, which is great as I am a book worm.

I just got done reading Toni Morrison's Song of Solomon.

I know it isn't one of those books that no one has heard about, after all, it is from Oprah's Book Club--typically I do not like her selections because I find them too sappy--, and was the winner of The Nobel Prize to literature, however, I just got the oppurtunity to pick it up and read it, even though a lot of y'all might have already. I must say that it was a fantastic book!

Morrison is an extremely elegant writer, who's words carry with them an undertone of deeper, hidden meaning that I did not realize until after I finished the book. The power of the story, for me atleast, did not reach its peak until the end, where the half solution to the riddle told by Song of Solomon could be fully understood. The story has a common element throughout, that being flight. Whether it be the flight of a bird, flight of a man from his lover, or the flight of man to his death, this story is fantastically clever and a must read, I highly recommend it.
