Exactly. I can't help but feel that much of the negative impulse against it may very well be due, at least in part, to preconceived general notions against it brought about by "1984". Put another way, the idea of "Big Brother" is presented as a bad thing in "1984"; hence, anything that subsequently materializes of any relative similarity must, therefore, be bad.
