As an extremely stupid person, I feel as though my rights should be adhered to. I'm entirely unable to see a distinction between a classical fantasy writing which is decades old, and an Islamic fundemenalist attack vs. the United States of America in the year 2001. I implore the producers of this film to change the title. Furthermore, I would like all referrences to the word "towers" taken out of the film, and English as a whole.

I remember hearing all this uproar shortly after 9-11(tm)(r)(c), and all I could do was laugh. For five solid minutes. Side-splitting, gut-busting, howling like a maniac laughter.

"The Two Towers" was written in, what, the 50's?

Some of it might well have been written before the war (I also seem to remember that it was) but I think that it was published after the war (and may not have been finished until then).

I am something of a Middle Earth nerd, but not so on the subject of Tolkien himself.

for those who don't know, what jrr tolkein did first was invent the elvish alphabet. then he invented the elvish language. then he wrote the book out longhand in elvish. then he translated it into english. then he typed it up and submitted it to a publisher. then he broke it up into 4 books, as the original was WAAAAAAAAAAY too fucking long.
