Hanging on minimize?

Lately, whenever I minimize a window of IE (or occasionally other programs too), windows will just hang for a second or two. Even winamp stops for a moment. Then everything goes back to normal.

It's really annoying. Anyone have any idea why it does this or how to fix it? Ermm... i'm running win2k and whatever IE comes installed with it.

Thankies.

Weird...
Try adjusting the refresh rate of your video card.
or
Might be the HDD going to sleep. Make sure its set to never power down. (Like a CDROM spining down between uses).

Nah, this is during active use.
Windows 2000.
I watched task manager when I'm doing it, and it seems like it's dumping memory when I minimize (mem use goes from like 5000k to 300k or so), and it apparently wants to use all of my processor time when it does so.

Good question. I'm not sure. I'm sure it's more than I want. I'll go look.

open task manager and select the performance tab at the top, when you minimise IE have a look to see if the CPU or memory peaks, if it is working withing normal parameters then you should see no more than 45-55 % CPU usage. Have a look and see if there is a process hogging CPU time, this may be a cause if an app is hanging on to the processor for above normal times.

You might have inadvertently disabled video acceleration. Check under Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Troubleshooting -> check the Hardware Acceleration slider is at maximum.

It seems to be doing okay now. It wasn't the hardware acceleration, and no other programs were eating up CPU time that I could see. It simply appeared that IE felt the need to grab total control of the CPU for a few seconds while dumping the memory.

Oh well.
