of a program that will reliably convert a whole bunch of files from .bmp to .gif at once, or do i have to stick with photoshop and open/save as?

what about a photoshop droplet? that can do batch processing of it - just record the actions and create it. i'm pretty sure you can also make an .exe so you can just drag & drop a whole bunch at once

paintshop pro ---> File ----> Batch conversion.
