Extremely entertaining, I've always wanted an aquatic creature that devours others. I was watching MTV cribs and Big Boi from Outkast has a huge tank and a couple sharks. Man, that looked cool. I've always been facinated by those fuckers and it would be one of the coolest things ever if I owned one. I'd watch it swim around and look lethal all day. I could also be just as facinated by a sharp and shiny object but hey, to each their own.

"You see slimp?!"
Oh Jesus fuck. I can barely stifle my giggles.
Funny shit, man. Nice to see something added to the main page other than "news."

Damn, Red. I just now saw this 'n' read it. I'm wagering most people don't even realize it's here, due to the dearth of column updates in many, many moons (Paintipoo's Nov. update, excepted).
Top-shelf stuff, dad. This belongs on the front page, IMO.
Thanks fer th'belly laughs, ol' pal.
Amen.

Ummm, it is on the front page. And I announced the update in chat a half dozen times.
People just aren't used to seeing the column updates change.
And yes, that is pretty funny.

Ummm, actually that's a yes and no, Paintaloons. The link to read his column (as is the case with all the others) is on the front page, but the story, itself, is not. And, for the record, I made my comment as a compliment, not as a veiled criticism of Asylumnation for the story's actual physical location.
But, I do think you are dead-on with your observation that people aren't used to seeing the column updates change. Additionally, unless one viewing the front page pays close attention, chances are they won't notice the change of date on any column link which, of course, would tip them off to the existence of an update. I know this happened to me, because I had looked at the front page several times after Red apparently updated his column without noticing the new date.
Lastly, if you want me to discuss this any further, it will cost you FIE HUNLED DORRA!
Amen.

Tone came across wrong. I meant my last post as a straight-forward correction.
We should all make DaCarlo our prison bitches now.

Wow. I'd love to have one of those buggers. I did look them up on the web, as suggested, and I found out some neato burrito things. For example, "The force of the strike of a large Californian species approaches that of a 22 caliber bullet, and is capable of breaking double layered safety glass. " (probably why they warned against a small tank.)
Also, "Mantis shrimps can see polarized light and 4 colors of UV (ultraviolet) light, and they may also be able to distinguish up to 100,000 colors (compared to the 10,000 seen by human beings). "
Here is a picture of one (though it might be a different kind from the one Redguard got.)
I got my stuff from this site, which has some info on raising them if Redguard or anyone else is interested: http://www.blueboard.com/mantis/care.htm
