Cool Stuff

Post things that you're really interested in and could talk about for hours. Maybe some of us have interests in common that we didn't know about.
For me:

Subways, mass transit, etc.

Urban archaeology, tunnels, catacombs, anything underground

Linguistics, including taxonomy

Architecture and city planning

And of course anything remotely related to Turkey

Ants. Seriously. There is nothing cooler than ants.

Medieval Japan.

Evolution.

Warfare.

Human depravity.

Anime

Umm...

Err...

I'm not a very interesting person.

[edit: Okay, Cage reminded me that I like Japanese stuff in general, and I'm interested in evolution, too. Guess I just can't think of my interests most of the time.]

Speaking of urban archeology, I just watched a quick segment highlighting some of the things they've dug up during the course of the Big Dig up here in Boston. They're planning on putting together a museum once they've finished. Prior to that I never even thought about urban archeology. It was some pretty cool stuff.

-agreeing with cage that I tend to find evolution discussions epecially fun to listen/participate in.
-theory about anything. conspiracy theories even better. these tend to be really funny discussions in the end.

I really will talk about pretty much anything. But I prefer to talk about stuff that other people know more about than I do, so I can learn more.

I can bore the crap out of people talking about Tolkien's world and physics and fantasy books or role playing games or pretty much anything else that I know a little about. Just ask people who know me. Talking to people from different countries about their countries is interesting, as is talking about politics. And history. Even some philosophy.

I like dogs and cows and good books. I like mowin grass and travelin around visitin with folks. I like flirtin with boys, no matter where I'm at or who they are.

If yer talkin bout what I like talkin bout? I dunno. Bring somethin up, and if I don't know nothin bout it, I'll speak with enough conviction that you might think otherwise. I can generally fake it for a while, at least, or until yer money runs out.

Kinks, Jenna Jamison -- something in common with Dingle... cause for alarm? I'd say so -- porn, video games, music, computers, history, politics, religion and, of course, anal fisting.

I remember running out after I finished watching Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan and sticking grass stems into ant hills and eating the ants off of them like he did with termites in the movie. And then a big-ass carpenter ant bit my tongue. Incidentally, they taste foul. I'd recommend fire ants instead. They're more crunch than taste. Just make sure to crunch them quick.

Ants definitely kick ass. They account for > 50% of the world's biomass. Some of them wage war. Some of them harvest pieces of leaves which they then compost to cultivate fungi for food. Some of them cultivate fungi which they use to support aphids which they herd for food. They collect their dead and deposit them in "graveyards". They're amazing. I never did play SimAnt. I wish I had.

Squirrells are actually pretty bad-ass, too.

Oh yeah, and watersports videos.

Ya don't eat ants unless there is nothing else but ants. They taste foul because of their high acid content.
One of the more common species is named Formica, like the counter tops. The base of their venom is formic acid.
I prefer termites, they taste like almond paste.
