Final Four: your predictions?
So once again I get to disprove my sports knowledge and poorly predict another major sporting event here in the United States of America. NCAA Basketball's Final Four in New Orleans is nearly here. Saturday features the round of four, Monday holds the finals. Let's get to the predictions, shall we?
(2) Kansas vs (3) Marquette:
I felt if there was a non-#1 who would shine in this tournament it was going to be Kansas. They're too good, even without Wayne Simeon. You have to choose who you're going to shut down, Collison or Hinrich, and just hope the other one doesn't have the game of his life... like they did in the Regional semis and finals. Marquette took out a seemingly uninspired Kentucky team, who had to play with a hobbled Bogans. They're just not as good or as experienced as Kansas, and they don't have two gods of college hoops. Kansas wins.
(1) Texas vs (3) Syracuse:
These are two relatively young teams. The difference though is a year of experience and the depth of the teams. Syracuse depends on their starters, while Texas relies on seven main players who all average over 15 minutes and 6 points a game. It will be difficult to tire Texas out, and TJ Ford could be the next Jason Kidd. I take the extra year of experience and the depth over the hot hand of youngsters. Both these teams are likely candidates to return to the Final Four next year. Texas wins.
Finals: Give it to experience, give it to the guys returning to big dance, give it to the seniors. Kansas will win this whole shebang no matter who wins the other game.
