huzzah for the internet, the place where porn is king, camwhores are queen, and people start to freak out over just about anything.

this isn't the only forum i go to. *gasp!* i know, i know. but hear me out people. i go to a tori amos fan forum to find info about tour dates, trade for merchandise i don't have, and basically fuck with the people that have way too much time on their hands.

yesterday someone posted about how they wanted to find all of tori's little anecdotes about her daughter. she tells stories in interviews and even does little improvs on stage about her, and this person thought they were adorable and wanted them collected on one page for people to enjoy.

how innocent and sweet, yes? apparantly not.

because people on the internet can't take anything lightly. people start posting...and i'm serious, this is true...that if someone took all of those cute little stories and put them together in the same place, on an anonymous little personal webpage somewhere on the internet, that a PERVERT or BAD MAN could USE this information to lure her child away while no one was looking.

and they're serious.

the woman has a team of bodyguards, personal assistants, nannies, a chef, plus countless stage hands, and people are afraid that if they take her own words and put them in the same place, it's a recipe for disaster.

and i thought that i was paranoid. i just can't fathom this behavior. i have a new term for people like this. i call them interlifers, because they're so wrapped up in their screen persona they don't have a life outside of the computer anymore.

feel free to share your own experiences with interlifers. i find the behavior fascinating.

I could be called an 'interlifer' because of how much time I do spend on the computer/internet, but I still have a social life outside the internet too. It's kind of weird to think how different I could be today if I never got the a computer and the internet back in grade 9. It's been a blast

I think you could clasify a lot of people in this place an 'interlifer'. It's not a bad thing, you all have friends or have made friends here. But I've seen drama here that definately classifies a lot of you as a 'interlifers', in morgana's words. Including herself of course

I spend massive amounts of my time on the internet, but if it were shut down, I'd just grow incredibly bored for a while. I'd get over it.

Though I suppose I'd have a much harder time finding dvds and stuff at decent prices.

If'n the interweb every shut down I'd just read more books. Maybe work on that campaign I've been thinking about for the last year. Maybe get laid.

My roommate in Iowa was something of an Interlifer in that he took most everything on the Web as the truth. He used to have a ton of conspiracy theory websites archived on his computer. And a ton of cartoon porn. He once sent me one of those lame forwarded things about some dastardly devil going around and putting HIV infected needles on gas pumps so people would stick themselves. I sent back a reply that just said that I hadn't laughed that hard in ages (assuming he was sending it to show me a rediculous hoax to enjoy) and his exact reply was:

Yeah, it's good to see someone hates the human race as much as I do.

Weeee!

He's also one of those guys that believes every "Weird Al" song you can find on p2p is actually by him. He was even convinced Al wrote the theme to "Friends" because it was labeled that way. Yeah.
