The other day at this side job I have been doing I sat in the grass during lunch break and one of those seed pods that fall to the gound like a propeller fell to the ground in front of me. I picked it up and peeled away the brown casing and looked at the gift it held inside. In contrast to the brown dry casing the seed was green with potential and life. I held it in the palm of my blistered - dirty - cut up hand and pondered it. I felt its life, and felt respect for its life...and on I pondered about seeds and all their forms.
How symbolically anything can be a sort of seed.
Anything can be the beginning of something that grows...

All the while my eyes on this tiny life I held in the palm of my worn dirty hand.
I looked at the ground around me and wanted to put it somewhere where it could grow. I felt a bit of sorrow when I looked at the orange clay that made up the immediate area, and even more when I realized there was no place to put this seed...not one where it could go and realize its potential. The neighborhood was cramped and well manicured.
I guess its weird that it made me feel a bit of sorrow and a bit of pity but it did.
And then I thought some more about the seed.
About how it had fallen and I had picked it up...and how I pondered it. I thought about the gift of that epiphany it had brought to me.
How anything can be a seed even if just symbolically.
how anything can be the beginning of something that grows...

a brick

a moment

a person

a thought

a word

the silence

and of course a seed...that seed.

Its now a growing part of me...and my yard.

Ahhhh.... The thought of little seeds into seedlings..... So small, so tender just bursting with life...Then douching the fuckers in herbicide so they won't mar the looks of the shrub bed.
