what, no frodo baggins? i guess lord of the rings is too recent for the list, even though it's one of the best movies ever.

and why does han solo get a spot in the top 20, but not luke? luke had to overcome more to become a hero, and let's face it, he was the saviour of the universe and such.

shitty list.

Jesus Christ, I want a job with the AFI. Do they just pay people to sit around and come up with mediocre lists all day?

the saviour of the Universe is really Anakin Skywalker and not Luke. Its Anakin who actually kills the Emperor, not Luke, Wedge and Lando Calrissian who actually blow up the Death Star, and Han Solo, Chewie, and Leia blow up the shield generator with the help of the Ewoks. All Luke does is cause his father to remember although even his influence there is questionable.

Han Solo is a better hero than Luke. He is much more charismatic, has a cool space ship (better than the poxy X-Wing) and works with an eight foot walking carpet. how cool can you get. plus he gets the girl, and is much funnier than Luke is.

If Captain Solo was that important, we'd have a song called "Hans Be A Solo Tonight"... but no, LUKE was blessed with honor. Not only did he single-handedly blow up the initial deathstar, but he made incestual lust cool again.

but he didnt. he was only able to make the shot after Han Solo made some pot shots at Vader forcing him to lose his aim on Luke and to clip another TIE Fighter which sent him spinning out of control. If it werent for Han, Luke would have been space dust.

Sure, there was indirect support. I'm sure if it weren't for Jar-Jar his parents might not have had him... but Luke is the one who took the shot, and made the thingie go BOOM.

I thought the fact that the Terminator was on the list twice was rather stupid.

I had thought Ming from Flash Gordon was gonna make the list two.

It really does not appear they looked beyond only what the AFI considers to be the best movies ever. Granted, great characters make great movies, yet I can think of a few mediocre movies with incredible characters.

I am glad to see a few on these lists (Nurse Ratched especially). Zod is kneeling to Nurse Ratched, Tal.

The most gripping part of Star Wars was watching Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford in an epic struggle to see who could act worst. Although it shouldn't be forgotten that both had help from George 'Irritating Self-Worshipping Cunt' Lucas.

George is god in his own little Empire. and yes they didnt have help from him, as Harrison said to Lucas whilst on set in 1975, "you can print this shit, but you sure as hell can't say it".
