Yes, somewhere between Tibetan Freedom and CMJ on the pretension scale lies Field Day Fest this weekend Calverton, NY (on Long Island, about 2 hrs from NYC).

Saturday's lineup is headlined by Radiohead, Beck, Spiritualized, and Interpol. Sunday's is Sigur Ros, the Beastie Boys, Blur and a bunch of others I can't think of except for Le Tigre.

The problem is, other than the ungodly price and the horrid indie fands bound to be in attendence, is with the planning. Apparently they don't have the proper permits, they keep oscillating between CANCELLED and game-on... even though the show is this weekend.

Is anyone else considering going? I'm not even sure its worth the trip at this point. I have tickets but my friend and I might sell them to avoid the hassle of driving up there and missing out.

If you can sell them, sell them -- but the lineup is too good not to go. Spiritualized and the Polyphonic Spree alone are worth it.

Calverton is a hike. Pretty much one of those one way in and way way out type of places unless you know the back roads around.

Northrop Grummen owns a large chunk of land out there. I would not be surprised if that is where it will be held.

I didn't end up going, but the people I would've went with said Spirtualized blew... oh well, maybe they just dont get them.
