Someone threw five American Eskimo puppies and their mother out of a moving car on a New York interstate.

A Syracuse newspaper reports State Police are searching for the five occupants of the car, who could face felony charges.

Officers say a garbage bag containing the puppies was tossed out the passenger-side window while the mother went out the opposite side.

The bag broke open on the windshield of a nearby car. Three of the puppies were thrown out on the highway. A pickup truck ran over the mother.

Both drivers stopped to rescue the dogs. One scooped up a puppy that had landed on the shoulder, took it home and called 911.

She named the dog "Lucky."

I had an Eskimo years ago, they are like a miniture Spitz. Neat dog other than their propensity to bark.
