Heard on the radio, no link, on a local talk station that some dude subject to this law was tossed into jail for not paying his share. $16,000 for his daughter from his first marriage to go to Tufts. He was re-married with one kid and making 55K a year. He hung himself after 40+ days incarcerated. After they are 18, whether anyone thinks its an obligation or not, they are not entitled to a free income. Its a gift, not a right.

That's just straight fucked up. So if you're married, you don't have to pay your kid's tuition, but if your divorced you do? It makes no sense, if you're going to do that the next logical step is to force all parents to pay for college if their kids want to go. After that, well hell, just make college free since everyone is paying for it anyway, just incorporate it into the public school system.

That's just fucking dumb, especially that you can get sent to jail for it. I thought this country was above such things as debtor's prisons.

it's just damnabley fucked up and needs fixin, but I guess you can't really depend on them New Hampshirians now can ya.
