FORT WORTH - As protesters continued to roar in Alabama over the court-ordered removal of a religious monument, a lone woman stood before Tarrant County commissioners on Tuesday, saying that the bronze statue of a panther represents "paganism" and should be removed from government grounds.

Unless the statue is worshipped religiously, it is not paganism. By this same logic, a statue of R.E. Lee could be called paganistic. Do you think they'd do that down there?

France must export its hairy women to the US, seeing as I never saw any in France or when they were holidaying in places like Mauritius. Sending those undesirable hairy types to the US might be like Hitler sending out of favour troops to the Russian Front back in the Second World War (and French people probably have all the popularity in the US as the Germans do in Russia).

As for the panther, if it meets the same criteria as the Ten Commandments statue then remove it. Hardly a big price to pay for keeping the church out of government and the government out of the church. Not that I do believe that it meets the same criteria that caused the Ten Commandments statue to be removed, but I'm by no means an expert.

I say they do it democratically, let random people vote; if the thing stays, cool, if it leaves, the people who voted to remove it must do so themselves.

Or have some sort of sporting event between the two sides, like a Wrestlemania. They could call themselves "The Panther Defenders" and "The Kitty Killers." Give them chairs and a ladder and a table and spiked bats, too.

I say remove it. I also think that all the states in the Southwest that have adorned their buildings and hiways with Kachina figures and Kokopelli need to remove them too.
If it has anything to do with any religion or could even be conscrued as being religious in any fashion or from any religion throughout history, remove it.

That seems to be a fair enough position. Apart from the expense of moving these things, I don't see how anyone could really complain. Church/state separation is more important than some gay religious art.

Why is the panther of religious significance?
