Movies & Media Bbca

I recently went from 8 tv channels to 1000, and even more recently discovered BBC America. Is it the same thing that you see in UK? Last I was there I don't think I ever saw television.
This has shows like Changing Rooms, While You Were Out, Ground Force, Ground Force America, Coupling, The Office, and is in general a lot better than the BBC stuff we see here on public tv.
Almost all the shows on it have been copied for American networks.

You don't get all the same shows and you get ads. The BBC here will have characters telling each other to 'fuck off', calling each other cunts and relatively explicit nudity, as long as it is shown after 9pm, and I don't think that that would go down well with the US market, but stuff like The Office is fine for general consumption (and painfully hilarious).

There is a Channel 4 show called 'Phoenix Nights' that is really very funny (and nasty), but I guess that you won't get to see that in the US. Mugtoe saw a medical comedy called 'TLC' when he was over here, I liked that quite a lot (that was BBC).

"Coupling" has some of the best writing of any show, ever. The American version is going to be almost word-for-word, but they'll find some way to fuck it up, of course. Probably throw in some smartass toddlers or something.

i've seen the pilot and it is in fact copied almost word for word. they take out the english slang, like pants, and throw in random americanisms to make people feel more comfortable watching it. also, the actors simply aren't as funny. Steve isn't as bumbling, Patrick isn't as confident, and Jeff isn't welsh and therefore not funny. The women are too blah to even be able to identify why they aren't good.

The network affiliate in Utah has chosen not to air the show. The same network wouldn't show "Picket Fences" or "Saturday Night Live."

I am Jack's network censorship.

why on earth would someone not broadcast Coupling? You should see the UK (and original version) of Will & Grace, called Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, it really is quite crass.

I didn't think that Will and Grace is a version of Gimme, Gimme, Gimmie.

Gimmie, Gimmie, Gimmie was shown on BBCA, apparently.

A summary page with a great Abba midi, too. A veritable embarassment of riches.

We watch BBCA quite a bit, because Sigmo has the hots for Tommy Walsh of Ground Force.

I like Groundforce, but I don't think any of them are attractive.

Sigmo is attracted to James Gandolfini and John Goodman. That is his ideal of manhood. Don't argue with it. It keeps me well fed and attended to.
