man

These guys are just getting knocked off by cars left and right.
I think it may be because of the storm, lost nests and a wealth of nuts all over the ground.
Anyway, part of my day consisted of "bucket o squirrel".

poor babies, they both had teats too, looked like they were in use.

I have never eaten squirrel, Ive had turtle, frog, gator, snake, bear and cow tongue though...I made a nice chicken sausage gumbo for tonight...it smells lovely and I refuse to let seeing the innards of one of the squirrels squished out its mouth and eye hole ruin it!

Squirrels are nothing but fuzzy tree-rats with good PR. Best viewed dead.

this is the beginning of euphorbia estates for birds.
I made it from wood scraps left over from wood we used for window protection.
I was real excited about building some for some screech owls and barn owls too till I realized if I attracted the smaller birds to my yard it would be like a owl buffet...which would be velly velly sad.
I understand that barn owls eat almost exclusively rodents...I plan on investigating further before I decide on what to do...any input would be nice.
Owls are in need of homes in this area (as are the types of birds I made these for) , perhaps I will make some and see if I can put them across the street near the stream/wet land. Not sure who i would need to talk to about that.

anywho, multiply this by 6 and that is how many I plan on making:

They arent anything special but they serve the purpose...besides corne wanted to see

and I had 4 people come ask if they could buy one when Im done, I said I would give it to them, but it seems like there is money to be made...especially after looking on the net for how much they sell for
Maybe when Im old Ill become "crazy bird lady" and make bird houses for a living

They look great.

Will owls fit through those holes though?
Since owls hunt at night most birds should be ok living near them. The rodent that feed at night make up most of the owls diet... I think

They are really owl traps. Little owls can fit through the holes. One day, they will wake up too fat to get out. Then they are ours.
