Time for everyone to put on their confessor hats (eh, don't get excited, it's me, Mr. Long-walks-on-the-beach).

So, I went to l'Occitane, the upscale version of bath & body works, since I am such a metrosexual I need to use a pre-shave oil and because they have 1-lb. bricks of vegetable soap for like $8.

Met a girl there who is only one year younger than me (23) and the conversation goes like this:
Her: (asks something about New Hampshire).
(I should note at this point that I was wearing this pistachio-colored t-shirt I got up in Gilmanton which says "How do you get to Gilmanton Ironworks? ...Go three miles south of Lake Winnepesaukee and take the third moose on the left!")

Me: Yah I just went up there a few weeks ago to visit St. Thomas More College. It's a pre-law school.

Her: Duh, it's Thomas More.

Me: (suprised) You know about Thomas More?

Conversation ensues.

Turns out she is from some kind of...uber-fundamentalist Christian family and went to a private school where she studied all kinds of philosophy and so forth...ie, not just biblical stuff all the time, in the ninth grade she was hitting Aristotle and getting into Sartre by her senior year. She even read Augustine and Aquinas, which I wouldn't expect of a fundamentalist place.

Anyway we have all kinds of stuff to talk about because she's into: Politics, religion, current events, philosophy, romance, books, discussing the nature of "fun," etc. She's sort of devolved into an agnostic or searcher so she's not talking to me merely to get me to go to church with her or something.

We are of course taking things slow...she's on the rebound and I'm...me, and the best thing about it is that we are completely candid about everything. Haven't had that level of clarity in any relationship before. Also, three times she has reversed my pessmistic reaction to stuff she has done. This is all wonderful.

Anyway I just thought I'd let you all know.

To make really sure of her, you should hire a private detective to follow her around, taking photos, to check that her story is true and she isn't some fundamentalist protestant agent. Best times to take photos for the purpose of checking out her stories are when she is bending over, or getting out of a car in a skirt, or undressing, that sort of thing.

Keep all the photos pinned on your wall, so that you can best see any pattern in behaviour that would suggest that she is trying to steer you away from the True Path of Rome. So that no one realises what you are up to, slash a few of the photos and write 'JEZABEL' across them in pigsblood with 3 feet high letters. As soon as she does something out of the ordinary, call the police and show them your walls of evidence and demand that she is arrested for trying to break your personal connection with God.
