For The Attention Of.

I hope you mean "What a fucking joke that so called professional footballers would act like children when one of their mates gets caught breaking the rules" rather than "What a fucking joke that the FA charged a stupid moron who dodged a drug test for 36 hours and thought he could get away with it"

Fuck it. If the players strike we should play a second team. Spoilt wankers.

I can't believe Ferdinand 'forgot' about a drug test for 36 hours. Ban him for a year.

thats exactly what i mean.

its disgraceful its been allowed to get to the point we are at now. i hope the england players are attempting (in their misguided way) to prove some kind of united point to the FA. and that they will back down and fly out to turkey tomorrow.

if they dont, i cant see the country being behind them at all. and for us to then have to play a second eleven...well, watch sven quit and become chelsea manager...

England players will hold a crisis meeting later on Wednesday to decide whether to pull out of their Euro 2004 decider.

The country's most important game for two years now hangs in the balance, with the Football Association warning England face disqualification if they do not play against Turkey.

FA spokesman Paul Barber admitted there had been no resolution to the unprecedented stand off between England's international players and the game's governing body sparked by the exclusion of Rio Ferdinand over a dope test.

"The players want Rio back in the squad but the FA is not prepared to do that," said Barber.

"The players are considering a number of options, and one of those options is not to travel to Turkey.

"If we do not compete on Saturday according to the regulations as I understand them, we will be disqualified from the tournament."

Barber said the FA was not prepared to speculate about drafting in other players if the current squad pulls out.

A ballot held by the players following dinner on Tuesday evening was reported to have resulted in a vote in favour of a boycott after Ferdinand's exclusion for failing to attend a routine drugs test.

Ferdinand must attend a hearing on Monday to account for his breach of doping regulations.

Speaking about Ferdinand, Barber said: "We made a difficult decision after many hours of consideration. We will not reverse that decision."

Professional Footballers' Association chief executive Gordon Taylor told BBC Radio Five Live: "There is a strong feeling of solidarity and the players are very concerned.

"They have made those feelings known to the FA."

insane. this is simply insane. i hope the players look to the public and see that we are not impressed at all.

what a season of football its been...

- gang rape, suspects are premiership players.
- leeds player arrested on a rape charge.
- ferdinand misses drug test. faces 2 year ban.
- england players to strike.

rock'n'roll baby.......

"In our minds there has never been any question as to whether we would play in this game - we will continue our preparation for Saturday's game."

----------------------------------

Now lads, perhaps I am just uber-cynical, but this sounds unbelievably like a publicity stunt/scam.... take note that the Turkey think it is wonderful that the team is in "disarray"......... has anyone considered that this could just be one big mind game? I mean, let's be serious, do you honestly think that the England team have the savvy to take such an overtly political stand? Not to mention that all of sudden there are statements being made that essentially seem to say "the tabloids were talking and quoting nonsense"

I'd hardly call it a conspiracy theory It'smore an observation that the likes of Ferguson and Wenger have done simliar things in the Premiership so why should international football be different?

yeah, but its a little over the top. for one thing, the press and the public were not very supportive of the players action.

taking mind games to this level is a OTT x2.

still, the players obviously care for Rio, and have proven how 'together' they are. no doubting the team spirit...

I'm sure you will. But until then I have the upperhand in respect of Judas's. Campbell made the right move and the most sensible move to be sure.
