Chopsticks' mom has been ill for a while, flying to Beijing periodically to go to specialty hospitals. Monday she was rushed to the hospital in her city for open heart surgery; we'll find out if it was succesful in two weeks. Chopsticks hasn't seen her in 6 years. Last night, with no notice nor severance, he was laid off.
No one can fight the Chinese nails industry and win; they're just too powerful!

Damn. I wish there was a pidgin-esque way to say "Happy Thanksgiving", but I guess they'd just say "Happy Thanksgiving" and that's not really funny as something like "Hrappy Sanksgliving". Oh well.

Anyway. That sucks. Where does his mother live? And why will it take 2 weeks to see if the surgery was successful?

She lives in central China about 1000 miles from Beijing. I don't know why, he couldn't explain everything crystal clearly.

That is unfortunate. Don't know what else to say, other than I hope she comes out okay. Bummer about that job too.

She came home this morning, err, tonight in China. Seems she is okay.
