From my profile page:
"You do not have permission to modify your signature."
What the hell is your problem?

I was just telling Stile this morning about how much I liked your signature and how much I'd hate to see it changed.

So what's the need to post this in TLF. Couldn't a PM have worked just as well?

Another mod already pm'ed me previously 4 days ago and went over my sig, which I adapted to fit his request and believed the problem as solved since he indicated he was happy with the alteration. Now it seems that "someone" has decided that he knows what's best for me and needed to save me from myself.
It's pure Stileism. I thought that this Forum was created to get away from that.

It adds flavour, methinks.
I like knowing how the mods use their little magick wands. says a lot about a person.

So discuss it in PM and get it resolved. No need to air dirty laundry in the forum.

And that is why I just posted the above comment. People on here need to see publicly what is happening. What is done to me can be done to you too. Either the mods speak with one voice, or the mods can contradict each other to the detriment of us all.

All I'm saying is you should seek to get things settled in PM. Only if you can't get things settled in PM should you start posting shit in the forum about the admins being nazis.
And in this case, it could entirely be some poor communication. I think you could have just tried to take care of this without trying to drag the whole forum into the drama.

I thought so. Apparently not. I guess the left hand isn't telling the right hand what is going on.

i for one am glad that this has been brought to the forums. i've been wondering how long it would take for this to happen since the new rules have been implemented.
so did a moderator utilize the PM system to let bill know he was going to lose his sig priveledges before they just did it? and can the mod who asked him to modify his sig indicate here in this thread whether or not he complied with their request?
these are things that i think would be nice to know. if you don't wanna hear about "dirty laundry" and all that shit, leave the thread. PM works both ways you know.

I'd like to post the pm's to show what the mod and I talked about and how we worked the sig problem out, but I will not do so unless he approves of me doing so, out of respect for him. He has been the only mod to ask me politely to change my sig, and I was glad to do so for him.

Hi there!!!
check your pm's Bill (I'm the "other admin" he speaks of)
OK, let's see here...
quote: From my profile page:
"You do not have permission to modify your signature."
That was done after you played flag wars about ten times in a row. It's back on now.
Rosh
quote: So what's the need to post this in TLF. Couldn't a PM have worked just as well?
We were pm'ing. Apparently I was not responding fast enough. That damned real life shit, ya know?
Billgerat
quote: And that is why I just posted the above comment. People on here need to see publicly what is happening. What is done to me can be done to you too. Either the mods speak with one voice, or the mods can contradict each other to the detriment of us all.
We also feel that people should publicly see what's happening. That's why Paint posted this thread and in it we stated the parameters needed and basically, everyone complied... almost.
It can happen to anyone too. Even I cannot put oversized multiple gifs in my sig. Even me... Can you imagine that?
I'm afraid you won't find any of the admins contradicting each other. It's a one voice thing.
Fiend
quote: Didn't we go over this already?
Yup, the Sig Heil thread of Paint's I believe. And the hands do talk, we just all aren't on the same shift, you see. So sometimes there is a delay and sometimes things are done when we all aren't around and usually it is something that we all were aware of. One has to remember that we have an ultra secret forum.
quote: i for one am glad that this has been brought to the forums. i've been wondering how long it would take for this to happen since the new rules have been implemented.
I want you to know that I am glad you are glad. It makes me happy when you are glad. I giggle when you chuckle.
Well, now you know how long it takes and you can quit holding your breath.
quote: so did a moderator utilize the PM system to let bill know he was going to lose his sig priveledges before they just did it?
No and that was my fault. I was a broken link in the chain of events due to my overly busy life. I am just not getting enough fucking off time in.
quote: and can the mod who asked him to modify his sig indicate here in this thread whether or not he complied with their request?
I would indicate that the parameters of the sig in question were not modified to comply. I would assume that you are astute enough to have reached that logical conclusion all by yourself though.
Billgerat
quote: I'd like to post the pm's to show what the mod and I talked about and how we worked the sig problem out, but I will not do so unless he approves of me doing so, out of respect for him.
Out of respect for you, I will decline. You should go back and read them.
Of course I've been respectful. You are one of my favorite posters. I'm only rude to the other 92% of the population here.
I will post a few lines from the Sig thread though.
We said-
"If you include images in your sig, they should total no more than 20k. Their dimensions should not exceed 75 pixels (H) by 300 pixels (W). Do not place images in succession that would stretch the page for someone using an 800x600 resolution. One animated gif per sig is acceptable. Text and images only."
You said-
"Just for the record, I don't really plan on enlarging my sig anymore than it is right now. If I find another animated gif that I want to include, I will delete one, or two if necessary, to make room for it. But I intend for the two waving flags to be permanent parts of my sig."
You are not trying too hard to be my little booboo buddy there, now are you?

When did we (as a forum) decide that only one anigif was acceptable? I missed that part. I understand the need for clarity and for limits, but it seems to me that 2 would be acceptable.
