Those of you who live in england will have seen adverts on TV for that financial company Standard life. The adverts portray happy well adjusted middle aged men enjoying an average life with their family and being very pleased about their finances being 'secure'.
Anyway on my way into Uni each day on the bus I drive past all these billboards for standard life. On each one where the slogan
"I like standard life" is written some guy has scrubbed out the word Standard and scrawled Mediocre.
I thought that was a little high brow for your average spray can wielding punk what with Mediocre having four syllables and all so it must be some sort of deep political statement from a bunch of malcontent anarchists.
Has anyone else noticed any small acts of rebellion?

The chancellor at my university, during a budget crunch, got rid of the historic desk in his office, and ordered one that cost $9000 as well as other bits of office furniture. Some undergraduates manufactured postcards that read, "Dear Chancellor, Congratulations on your new desk!" and had thousands of people sign them and send them through campus mail. That was pretty cool.

Heh. In San Francisco the Commonwealthy Club, a quasi-political orginization that featured all kinds of guest speakers from the world of politics, entertainment, and business. Well this ad campaign had all sorts of billboards around town featuring people who apparently are the definition of "young, urban, and hip" or whatever. aka a bunch of pretentious looking assholes. they also featured a bunch of supposedly looking pithy phrases, but they instead were also just more signs of pretentious bullshit. people started going out defacing these signs, altering the quotations, and defacing the faces of the people. slightly amusing when im taking the underground ^_^
