Banning fags
According to this link http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3292979.stm there's a top medical journal which reckons smoking in the UK should be banned.
It's an interesting idea but there's probably a few obsticles. It's not the 9 billion the gov make in taxes, coz you could argue they would save more than that on the NHS bill.
I wonder how many politicians have shares in tobacco companies...
Would you support a complete ban on smoking? I don't think its workable but a ban on smoking in public might be.

The key to 'I thought that this thread was going to be about [topic]' jokes is that the thread isn't about [topic]. There is ideally a cunning (yet accessible to all but the meanest intelligence) play on words, or (better yet) a reference to some past thread or to a forum member.
Print out this post and sellotape it somewhere that you can see it everytime you post. I'll add more 'understanding humour' tips as necessary.

Oh man...some of us WANT to check out early...not like today...but were just fine with making the trade off of better health way down the road for a more pleasant and satsifying life of smoking now. Seriously, its part of being a free society to let people make both good and bad decisions and to let them control what goes in or out of their body...

But its not just your body, smokeing is something you inflict on everyone around you. The number of disorders with proven links to smokeing is huge. A free society wouldnt force me to stand in a public place with you ya fuckin chimney stack. Oh and before you come out with the "no ones forcing you just fuck off" coment i have to wait for trains and busses every day and theres always a smoker there making it nasty, selfish fucks.
If any of you attended all the classes about disease and physiology that i do you'd be surprised how often smokeing comes up, its bad for you in just about every way.
The only reason its still legal, unlike most DRUGS, is that so many important people are making money out of it.
Oh and the next fuckin schooli that stops me and asks me to go in the shop and help em buy fags then calls me a cunt because when i say no the smokey monkey on their shoulder gives em a kick in the ear is going to get a smack in the gob from me to boot. Those fuckers should be in class anyway.

but just to flog the old mule a bit more... I hardly think that the cultural parametres that are at issues constitute anything related to an evolutionary trajectory in the biological sense.
