Books to read

I am going to stick some things here to check the next time I venture to the book store.

Christopher Hitchens wrote a piece about John Buchan's spy novels, and they sound like they might be interesting. Although it seems like it might be more interesting to read the book about Buchan. Hitchens also mentions what Graham Greene thought of Buchan, which reminds me that I have read anything he has written either.

Mugtoe's referencing Moby Dick reminds me that I haven't read that.

Recently when George Plimpton died I was thinking that I might find Paper Lion interesting (although maybe not).

There are other things I come across all the time and forget. If I stash some in here from time to time, maybe I will actually read some of them.

Thank ya

One I picked up without having heard of it, a while ago, and absolutely LOVED:

Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides

I'm fairly sure youd love it, sabine.

Has anyone but me read Ring by Koji Suzuki? If you haven't yet, I highly recommend it. It's so different from any of the movie interpretations that you won't expect what you see.
This is about the only case I can think of in which I was not offended that the three movies were so different from the book. Each stood on its own.

The Dante Club by Matthew Pearl

I just wrote a really long summary and such of the book; but the damn forum ate it.

So check the website(linked above).
You want to read this book. It's absolutely fantastic.
