Gravitys Rainbow or Pynchon Makes Me Look Smart

Im just about done with this master work. Ive been busy the last few years reading primarily books on theory and the works of modern poltical scientists and had pretty much sworn off fiction...until I got this shit.

I find this book to be absolutely fucking hilarious...it makes me laugh out loud...it has embarassed me on more than one occasion, making me look like a freak...its also so full of metaphore and vague references that it reminds me of Finnegans Wake(the best book ever written by the way). My only gripe is that I dont know enough German to get all of the jokes...

Anyways...if youve read it Id like to discuss the point of the book or just your favorite parts...

My favorite part is the appearance of Octopus Gregori...the pavlovian cephalopod sent on a secret mission to entice the books 'hero' to fall in love...I also particularly like the description we get of a town over-run by dogs and their society and behaviors...fucking brilliant in its hilarity...

Oh, and if theres other books of this calibre and in this vein, tell me...Im going to read that whole Illuminatus trilogy or whatever next...

I havent read Gravitys Rainbow but did steal a copy from my old Prof and look forward to it. Illiminatus! is about as necessary as a book can be, as is everything else RAW writes. Be sure to check out the BoomerBible (www.boomerbible.com for starters) too. And dont forget the Principia Discordia; see the Law of Fives link in my sig for more.
