Reservoir Dogs

This was Tarantino's only good movie, and it was the first to open with "minutae" (conversation about nothing) dialogue. But for me, what made the movie great was its noble attempt to address the difficult phenomenon of what it means to be a man in the 21st (late 20th) century.

Isn't that what they said about Fight Club? Not that it matters.

Have you even seen the movie?

It wasn't about violence or anti-establishment.

It was about character.

shut the fuck up before someone with a coherent grasp of the film comes in here and hands your ass to you for making such a stupid statement.

Mosquito Coast was about character yet I have never heard it being called "a noble attempt to address the difficult phenomenon of what it means to be a man in the 21st (late 20th) century"

I have however heard it called a 'pile of unrelenting crap' however.

Reservoir Dogs is a metaphor for the story of Jesus actually. It's a beautiful thing.

I really didn't see the movie to find some deeper meaning. I mainly wanted to see Michael Madsen's lil' dance number as he cuts that guy's ear off.

Since that won't be coming from you, I guess I'll have to wait a few centuries for something like that to come along...

oh gee, ya think? i thought i had made it clear that it wasn't going to be me; funny, for someone who bleats about being the superior intellect around here you seem to have a hard time grasping the abundantly obvious.

Talk about over-analyzing. Resevoir Dogs was an attempt (and a successful one I might add) of a young unknown indie filmaker to break into the box office with a style that flew in the face of the established mainstream film format of the time. It was a vehicle for both the violence that marks his style and for the use of characters and dialogue that mirrored the less than tidy real world that Hollywood traditionally glossed over.

It worked and worked well. However, I think to read any more into it gives Tarantino more credit than he is due.

decent movie

nothing else. I doubt Quentin said to himself, "ya know this would make a great social statement"
I'm sure it was more like "ya know what would be a great storyline?"
don't post after you smoke pot and watch a movie
