Post Forgive the intrusion... please

Hello all,

I've been writing numerous essays tonight as all my schoolwork is due in over the next week. I've written so much meaningless bullshit tonight that my fingers don't even feel like they're hitting the keys on my keyboard anymore and the words appearing on my screen could be anything.

Am I making sense?

Anyway, I had to write an essay for my Theory of Knowledge 2 class and have just within the last ten minutes finished adding the final few touchs to it. It makes no sense to mean, but that's alright. The whole class makes no sense to me.

The subject of the essay was something along the lines of "The boundaries between good and evil and how they have deteriorated over the course of time"
I actually was having fun for awhile thinking about that.

Do you guys think that there is an inherent difference between good and evil?
Is it society that dictates what actually is good or what is evil?
Am I evil and I just don't know it?

Oh how I look forward to the holidays that are coming up. Go back to your business, I'll return to lurking.

Hrmph.

Boundaries between good and evil, huh?
Maybe the boundaries have deteriorated, but the proportions of each are the same as they've ever been. We have no Caligulas anymore, we have wishy-washy presidents who won't admit to blowjobs from their interns. We have more of them, perhaps, but all half assed, piss-ant, semi-evil shits. Clinton could have at least married his horse (on second thought, maybe he did...), or said "Ya, I fucked her, what's it to ya?"

Perhaps it's the purity of evil that's dissolved over the years. Jesus himself (badly paraphrased, I'm sure) once said "The hot, the cold, I will consume, but the lukewarm I shall spit out with revulsion". Guess what, we've got one fuck of a lot of lukewarm bastards around these days. What ever happened to Torquemadas? to Hitlers? Vlad Tepesh? to Francis of Asissi or Martin Luthers or Mohandas Ghandis, for that matter?

We have no good or evil anymore, we have half assed pigfuckers who pretend they're doing the right thing while they aspire to be pure bastards, and accomplish niether, in spades. The best we can come up with anymore? Ken Starr. An assortment of banana republic dictators whom the pissants who run the superpowers can't even bring themselves to kill outright. There is nothing left but hippie-dippie bullshit masquerading as policy, and sons of bitches who can't or won't admit they would kill their own mothers for the chance to fuck us all up the ass.

The boundaries have blurred, perhaps, but the result is only a loss of purity on both sides of the equation for us all. Kill me, sanctify me, just don't leave me hanging, for the gods' sakes.

This rant has been brought to you by a steaming pile of bullshit and copious amounts of vodka. Thank you for your time.

"It's a small world
And it smells bad
Buy another if I had
Back what I paid
For another motherfucker in a motorcade..."

Good and Evil are socially programmed into you from a young age. Without these boundaries, no matter how frail they may have become, anarchy would reign supreme. Or at least some semblance of anarchy at it's best. Murder would go unpunished - but who's to say (hypothetically) that murder is evil? Could it be the human races' way of population control? Does a lion not kill a wildebeast for it's dinner? Or kill another lion to take over the pride? I'm not condoning murder, it's evil.. but it's been a part of "civilisation" for centuries. Did Cane not kill Abel so he could be the favored son? War is murder. Yet you do not see the many men and women who fight for their country charged with mass-murder do you? NO.. why? Governments approve of it for their own personal gain, for the advancement of their nation.. blah blah blahdy blah.

What is good? Is it good to help a little old lady across the road? or is it good to die in vain for something you believe in? How do you measure Good and Evil? Is there a scale of 1 to 10 that determines how good or evil something is? No. Good and Evil vary from society to society.

I just realise I ramble crap.. sorry

Yes there is a difference.

Society just makes rules that say what you can't do, at least the political aspect of society. The Judeo-Christian ethic, which permeates our society obviously, is basically where our notions of good and evil come from.

Yes, you're an evil bastard in denial.

There is no such thing as good or evil. They are societal constructs derived from moral imperitives defined by a social grouping.

As Satan singss in Southpark: 'What is evil anyway? Without evil there can be no good, so it has to be good to be evil sometimes'

I think this sums up the illegitamacy of the concepts of good and evil as being absolute and ap priori in nature.
