Life after 30
Everyone's unique, but some generalizations can be made regarding how one's life or attitude changes upon entering their third decade. I am curious also about public perceptions and stereotypes towards people 30+.

I'm sure there's tons of market research out there you could look up.
Perhaps you could do that and then post what you've found out.

Are you simply making a statement or did you mean to ask a question of some sort?

The worst thing about being 30 is people expect you to act your age.

It is typically at the age of 30 that people look around themselves and realize that life is a do-it-yourself thing.

It's not quite the same as reading the thoughts of real individuals who are themselves over 30, silly.

Why didn't you ask that directly?
You're asking us, representing the public, to post our perceptions and stereotypes about people over 30?
Do you have any of your own perceptions and stereotypes to share?

edit: and here's one of mine.
Thirty is when you more fully appreciate the benefit of owning at least one fine suit.
(Then you chuck it later but that's another story.)

A good bonus is you don't get carded as much and when you do, you feel pretty damn good.

Sorry for the vagueness. I happen to be in a rather awkward mental state at the moment.
You see, it seems there are certain social expectations/ responsibilities that are put on those over 30 that may be liberating but are more likely not-as though you can no longer get away with the things you could before because people assume that you've had ample time to make your way in the world and "find yourself", and it is high time for you to carry the weight of some of the many modern social burdens.

Age 30 - 40 is when you better have your ass in gear. After age 40 you will find yourself standing in front of the whiteboard of your life and moving items from the "I'm gonna do" column to the "I'm never gonna do" column. Sad, yes, but also liberating in a way. I'm not sure I would have been able to live up to Vanessa Williams' expectations anyway.

Oh god, I hope that's not true. I've never acted my age, and I'm not about to start now.

Considering this, I find it ironic that 30 (in Roman numerals) is XXX.

Being over 30 does not mean much to me. I spend more time projecting retirement accounts and reallocating investments than before; I still regularly visit the gym, but notice I am not quite as strong; I also find my vocabularly keeps increasing. I also now drive "a big penis" car.

It's funny, those liberals that seems so progressive....
They start sounding a little silly, shall we say.
After 30, you see.

I remember when people in their 30's were "old." Now, a third of the way through mine, I have never felt better. I am on top of my game, people don't treat me like a child and a very few think of me as old enough to call "sir."
I am rather enjoying the stability that has seem to come in to my life as I grow older. My roots are starting to grow and I don't find myself wondering dramatic thoughts about what my life will turn out like.
When I was young I pondered what I would do with my life. When I'm old, I'll reflect back on what I did with my life. Right now, I'm living my life.

When you're 40 something they sound hilarious. No wonder old people piss themselves.

I'll be 52 this Sunday and the one thing I can add is the older you get, the more you realize how stupid you used to be. And how little you still know after all these years.

Oh, for the sake of fuck, tell us something we don't know.
And Bluexy, that roman numeral bit just earned you a pernt. Good eye!

I don't like to think about that. It'll keep me up at night wondering why/how I still draw breath.
I was not a very carefull and very reckless teen/early twenty year old.

Yeah, the thing about turning 30 was that although I had a hell of a lot of fun in my 20s, I also made a hell of a lot of mistakes. At around 30 the cumulative effect had set in, and I was greatly relieved to find that I didn't need to keep reliving similar events.

Just for the record:
All us early 20 somethings aren't like plum.
I swear.
I have a couple friends, 30 and 33. One just got a house. He's dead bald, but other than that, he's living it the fuck up more than I am. Because he's over 30, and actually has the money to do it. They're bigger fucking kids than I was at 17, and LOVING it.
I can' fucking wait until I'm 30. It seems to me like the time you start doing thing you wanted to, but never could because you were always fucking broke. I can have a faily nice hole in the wall, a somewhat reliable car. I can have money to go places. Maybe it all depends on how you play your cards, and I'm gonna play Peter Pan style. Hell...you can still be a sex symbol to 13 year old at age 30. 30 is old, now?
