Singer/songwriter Billie Joe Armstong was found dead
early this morning. He aparently was on his way home
from a late night recording session when blindsided by
a drunk driver. Bystanders state that they witnesses
Green Days frontman as he was thrown from the vehicle.
"Our lives are never going to be the same," says
bassist Mike Dirnt. "He was not only a huge and
intricate part to this band. Not to mention my best
friend of almost 22 years." "We were almost finished
with our followup up to Warnings album, but now we
have not decided weather not put it out or not."
This would have been be Armstrong, bassist Mike Durnt
and drummer Tre Cool's first album since 2000's
Warning -- or their first under the Green Day moniker.
Last year, a synth-pop group called the Network --
featuring such mysterious members as Snoo, Fink, Van
Gough, Captain Underpants and Z -- released its debut
on Adeline Records, owned by Armstrong and his wife.
Though Green Day won't cop to their alter-ego, there's
little doubt who was behind the Network.
To many of the greenday fans out there, this is going
to be one of the darkest days in Rock and Roll
history. Billie Joe Armstrong was only 37. He had a
wife and 2 kids along with one of the most successful
bands in Rock history. Today, obviously is not a very
Green day, its more of a Blue day for thoes who will
remember Billie Joe Armstrongp> STEVE BALTIN

Song for Bob Dylan
(Wally Pleasant)
Bob Dylan was the first Bob Dylan
Who was billed as "the next Woody Guthrie"
He travelled this land with pen in hand
And wrote about what a mess it was in
Bob Dylan was the first Bob Dylan
Lou Reed was the next Bob Dylan
And he was ready able and willin'
To study the urban landscape with a cynical grin
He wrote about S&M and heroin
Lou Reed was the next Bob Dylan
And the next Bob Dylan is waitin' around the corner
And the next Bob Dylan is waitin' around the bend
And the next Bob Dylan is the flavor-of-the-week on MTV
Singin' about hypocrisy
Bruce Springsteen was the next Bob Dylan
A working-class blue-collar spokesman
Columbia Records found him on the Jersey shore
Rolling Stone says "the future of rock and roll"
Bruce Springsteen was the next Bob Dylan
Tom Petty was the next Bob Dylan
A late-nineteen-seventies Bob Dylan fill-in
He could really rock and roll with his Heartbreakers
Now he's got season tickets to the Lakers
Tom Petty was the next Bob Dylan
And I wanna be the next Bob Dylan
Yeah I'll make my imitation calculated and cheap
I'll sing songs with a raspy attitude and voice
And people will think that I'm deep (let's think about it)
(harmonica: 8 bars)
Neil Young and Donovan, Billy Bragg
John Wesley Harding, Jackson Browne
Even the lead singer from Motley Crue
Has a little Bob Dylan in him
And the Bob Dylan wanna-bes keep fallin' from the trees
Greenwich Village still has an overflow
And the critics gather around to find that next Bob Dylan sound
But I want you to remember this before I go--
Bob Dylan was the first Bob Dylan
Who was billed as "the next Woody Guthrie"
He travelled this land with pen in hand
And wrote about what a mess it was in
Bob Dylan was the first -- and only -- Bob Dylan
(rit.)

Wasn't a car wreck. He jumped off the Tallahatche Bridge.
Amen.

I saw this thread and started wondering if I had actually missed Billy Joe's death. Then I saw Mug's name....

Bob Dylan: A great poet who should have had his vocal chords surgically removed at birth.
