Your idea of the Perfect Society?

(If there had to be one.)

Formulate your ideals, please.

I have an idea of a zone-based society, where different rules apply to different zones.
E.g. there would be a democratic state zone, a religious zone and an anarchy zone, with people frequenting each as they pleased.
Zones would probably overlap in a few ways, but should be as independent as possible from the other.

(I'm sure yours is better.)

how would you handle crime commit in the democratic zone or the religious zone by someone who then flees to the anarchy zone?

No such thing...no sense imagining the impossible. Societies arent static...they dont have end stages...if they do it is their extinction...the rest is motion and flux.

There's no rules in the anarchy zone, so the state could hire a bounty hunter or put out a ransom for the criminal.

And to 3MTA3 - no sense in imagining the impossible? Speak for yourself, I guess, and what's impossible? We're primates! With a space program!

Perhaps this would be a good time for me to share Section B of my Manifesto entitled Selective Vaporization: Society's Salve ?

The popular "people's movement against people" WILL be dominant.

the step-by-step road to salvation is this:
1) Outlaw the farming and fishing sectors
2) Sterilize anyone under the age of 25, kill anyone over the age of 40.
3) outlaw all economic activity, except the production, buying and selling of cyanide tablets and weapons of mass destruction.
4) People press-ganged into the police militia. Everything becomes illegal. Only punishment is summary execution.

cheers

Something with compulsory civil service. Make you work before you are guarunteed any societal privilages (voting, free assembly etc.), stop handing them out like candy at birth or when you pass a 20 question citizenship test. No one should be denied the chance to get these privilages, but don't make them free either.
Aloha, btw.

Aloha, Panzer. I think a compromise between your model and mudded's would be optimal for the Religious zone.

Yes, please.
I'll remember to ask on your behalf for a Selective Vaporization-zone and a Cemetary zone, even though it sounds to me like they rule each other out.
And since you're all so fixated on death (and death _is_ nice), I can tell you that we're going with Bill Hicks' model for old people:
Using them as 'stuntmen' in pictures. Just like mudded's sig, actually.

(Edit: Hicks' model)

The perfect society would be one in which people do not look to government as the first choice for a solution to their problems. The perfect society wouldn't have anything to do with political systems, but rather a community of people who act right in the first place and have no need for some central authority to direct their lives.

Well said, Mugtoe. I couldn't have articulated the implausibilty of a perfect society better myself.

Yes yes. This is a bit obvious in my eyes, and the support of your hangaround T-Troll proves that even he needs a central authority in his life.

Yes, well, you didn't ask for the perfect political system. You asked for the perfect society. The fact that you said one and meant another just shows that you have the same messianic view of politics that creates the problem in the first place.
