RAW's Right Where You Are Sitting Now

This was published in the late 80s, I think. It was pretty good adn would have been excellent if he hadn't made a bunch of predictions and prognostications about social and technological changes expected by 2010 that obviously did not and will not happen (on schedule). The rest of the book is classic RAWilson, with some stories, some reflection, some mindfuck writing, all of it challenging you to belief and not believe, to check your hat at the alter of Chapel Perilous, to get down and run with the Junkyard Dog.

I need to read Masks of the Illuminati again soon, I think.

Any other Robert Anton Wilson fans here?

You know it, baby.

But I only read the Trilogy and The Illuminati Papers (which is great) and of course lots of web miscellania. Illuminatus meant a lot to me a couple of years ago, when I was exploring my mind in various ways, not all of them chemical. That was also the time when I first heard Bill Hicks, and the two go great together.*
I'm a fan.

"I used to be an atheist, until I realized I had nothing to shout during blowjobs. 'Oh Random Chance! Oh Random Chance!' just doesn't cut it…."

*Ed: And I'd like to state for the record that I love the America they represent.

Are you kidding? RAW is the greatest. I am still champing at the bit to finally see the fourth installment of the Historical Illuminati Chronicles.

Bill Hicks seems like a Denis Leary/Brian Regan amalgam (funny, but not as funny as either of those). Maybe I haven't listened to him enough.

I never found Dennis Leary that funny, and he did rip off a lot of Hicks' jokes, especially the ones about smoking. I saw parts of some tribute show for Leary recently; it was repugnant. There's no squeegeeing of the third eye with him.

Get Arizona Bay and Rant in E-minor by Hicks.

Don't know Brian Regan, but will check him out.

as Nute already knows, I've read nearly every book RAWilson has ever written (and quoted from). I was addicted to him when I was in high school.

the Historical Illuminti is one of my favorite peices by him as Cliffe points out up there it would be great to read more about Sigsamundo(sp) and the rest of the great cast of characters.

Unforantely for us fans I think RAW is on his last legs. He's cancelled many tour dates from illness and I don't think we'll see much more from him. I do hope he does a final installment of The Cosmic Trigger before he passes away.

Oh yeah, how could I forget. 'The Earth Will Shake' saved an entire holiday in Spain for me. It's not so mindblowing though.
His name is Sigismundo. He is 'the most brilliant young musician in all Italy since Antonio Vivaldi, in the estimation of the only two people whose opinions mattered, himself and Uncle Pietro'
