Thumbs down Saw a movie trailer yesterday....

You know a movie's gonna suck balls when the trailer says NOTHING about the movie, plot, or anything.. just shows a bunch of special effects, fast-moving cars, and Sylvester Stallone. (actually, just that last bit's a good tipoff that the movie will probably suck )

The stupid trailer was for a movie called Driven... Not only was the trailer uninformative and annoying, but it completely failed to make me interested in seeing the movie. In fact, the trailer made me not want to see the movie. Sometimes, you really have to wonder about these marketing people.

Exclamation

I have to disagree on the "show nothing=bad movie" trailer thing. I remember sitting in theaters watching the trailer for "The 5th Element" with nothing but a big metallic looking 5 in space and wondering, "what the fuck is that about?"

The movie of course rocks, so there are exceptions to the rule...

and yes, that was a shitload of quotation marks.

Yeah, it does rock. But I saw more of a trailer than just a floating 5, so I dunno.

i dunno, i remember the original trailers i saw for event horizon, they didn't show much, just that a ship disappears and comes back a bunch of years later...

me, thinking "hey, that should be a pretty cool sci-fi idea", goes opening night, still knowing nothing more about the movie...

boy was that a mistake...i haven't found a movie yet that's freaked me out as much as that one...goddamn misleading trailer making fuckers at that movie company should be shot!

I remember the 5th Element trailer with the five in the middle of the screen. That was really cool that it showed nothing about the movie at all and it still rocked.

Now event horizon I think showed pretty much everything that you needed to know about the movie that it could tell you without giving the entire plot away. Although that movie was pretty weak, the quick glimpses of hell were definately extreme.
