When and under what circumstances did Saddam try to kill #41?

I'm trying to get to the bottom of this whole hit on Bush Sr. and I'm asking for your help.

Was it before, durring or after Desert Shield/Desert Storm?
Did he hire someone specific or put a public price on his head?
Was there a sniper on the roof of the capitol building or anything of that nature?
Are there links to news sources that are not just quotes of 43 saying "he tried to kill my dad"?

why don't they car bomb in the states more often, it seems to go over well overseas.

we just don't see enough car bombings since guns are so readily available.... ;(

I googled like crazy. "Saddam kill bush" "Saddam hit bush" etc. There were overwhelming results for "he tried to kill my dad." I gave up and came here.
