I feel robbed. All my life people have told me about all the horrors of laissez-faire economics. They talked of monopolies and of child labor, subhuman working conditions, and corruption. Lies, all lies.
I picked up a new book two days ago:

Capitalism: the Unknown Ideal
by Ayn Rand (http://www.aynrand.org/)

One of the best books I have ever bought. I am over half way done and can only compel myself to put it down to brood about those who lied to me. Lie after lie is exposed by this book and discussed. Truly the best economics book I have ever read. A must read for anyone seriously interested in politics and economics.

Speaking of "Lies My Teacher Told Me" There's an interesting history book called this. I picked it up several months ago and enjoyed it enormously. It basically starts with several textbooks that are used to teach High School History, and then it discusses how they revise history in many instances. For example, it talks about Christopher Columbus, how we treated Native Americans, the Civil Rights Struggle, and a couple other things. Fascinating read if you're even the least bit interested in history. I would go into more detail, but since we're moving, my copy is buried somewhere in all these boxes

I have skimmed that book before. Although it is written by a communist it gives a good explanation on the deceit in my AP US History book (American Pageant) which gave statistics to try to make Reagan look worst then FDR.

Before you ppl dismiss a book on face value you should actually see what it has to say. What a sad culture we live in today.
